The Town of Hamburg Office of Emergency Services (ES) plans and prepares for emergencies, educates the public about preparedness, coordinates emergency response and recovery, and collects and disseminates emergency information. To accomplish this mission, ES maintains a disciplined unit of emergency management personnel, including responders, planners, watch commanders, and administrative and support staff, to identify and respond to various hazards.

The Department of Emergency Services allows you to research information about actions that you can take to better prepare yourself, your family, property, and your business in the event of a disaster or emergency situation.

The potential for a disaster to occur in the Town of Hamburg is as ever present as it is within any community. The departments and employees of the Town of Hamburg provide a vital and professional response to emergencies that occur in our Town. Their primary objective is to protect the lives and property of the people within the Town of Hamburg.

Disruption of services, loss of life and extensive property damage can occur within our community. Emergency conditions could result from, or be a combination of, any natural or technological hazards.

If emergency conditions exist or are imminent, and cannot be handled by the resources of these departments, the Town of Hamburg has the obligation, and the ultimate responsibility, to protect the people of our Town. We also have the obligation and responsibility to help the people of our Town recover from the emergency, along with restoring services within the Town of Hamburg.

The Town of Hamburg has instituted a new rapid emergency notification service called CodeRED.

Traffic Incident Management Trailer

Hamburg Emergency Services has recently placed a Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Trailer into service. This trailer contains support and utility assets required to manage major traffic disruptions: signal malfunctions due to power loss, highway diversions, lane closures, and Accident Investigation. This support unit's capability will be expanded to support the Emergency Services Function in the Town of Hamburg.

511NY Program Information

The New York State Department of Transportation implemented 511 New York (511NY) in 2008 as a free, comprehensive travel information system geared to meet the multimodal needs of commuters, long-distance and local travelers, tourists and commercial-vehicle operators, by providing up-to-the-minute, comprehensive transportation information.
